Your guide to a healthier romantic relationship.
What is defined as a healthy relationship? Do you feel secure and comfortable with your spouse? Can you resolve conflicts without becoming physical? Do you communicate clearly and openly without yelling? If you are able to answer yes to these questions, you may be in a healthy relationship. However, there is more to creating and maintaining a healthy relationship. Learning and valuing what is important to each other will help build respect needed for one another.
Trust and honesty go hand in hand. If you can’t be honest with your spouse, then the relationship will also lack trust. Being honest about thoughts, feelings, and the desired relationship goals will allow both you and your spouse the opportunity to explore the relationship and a deeper level. As you begin to learn each other, the trust part is earned not automatically given. Bad communication can ruin a healthy relationship. Just as trust is hard to earn and easy to destroy, lack of communication can be just as damaging.
